Affiliation by definition means a social or business relationship or an affiliate is a commercial entity with a relationship with a peer or a larger entity besides many others. A partnership by definition refers to members of a business venture created by contract or a cooperative relationship between people or groups who agree to share responsibility for achieving some specific goal. As related to the e-commerce industry partnerships are used to grow and in many cases provide benefits such as the share responsibility of operation and financial matters. In the larger picture not only combined services or products are the outcome of most partnerships but also financial and obligated responsibilities.

When service providers enter into either affiliations or partnerships it generally is done to enhance the business services or product to the consumer. This combines the quality of services and the expertise of both or all companies involved. These joint or combined efforts are completed after lengthy research into the entities involved to ensure that the resulting service or solution is marketable or profitable and can be offered to a wider range of vendors.

For example; an ecommerce service provider that wants to expand their solutions and increase the businesses of present and future clientele or offer global service may look to affiliate with marketing and advertisement providers. The joint associations with specialists in these fields provide a broader exposure and a more lucrative end product.
The advertising affiliates or partners with specialists in these industries provide detailed expertise in decisive advertising to best fit the services that the service provider offers to the vendors and how to make the most out of the advertising budget. A respected advertiser provides the needed detailed verbiage and graphics to best compliment the product or service.

On the other hand; the marketing specialists are experts at providing the targeted exposure of the service. This group of specialists utilizes tools to provide traffic needed to offer the product or service to a select geographic location or selected consumer group to find the precise consumer base for that particular service. With the increased exposure conversion rates and product sales increase dramatically.

This is a perfect joint venture to enhance an e-commerce platform and also greatly benefits the affiliated or partnered entity by exposing the services that they offer to an expanded consumer base. Together with numerous other solutions that a provider offers, the addition of these features adds to the versatility and flexibility of the e-commerce platform.

As with any individual service, value is added by each part of the e-commerce solution provided.
